El ministro de Seguridad Pública, Martín Arrau, visitó este domingo a dos funcionarios de Carabineros hospitalizados por lesiones graves en el ejercicio de sus funciones. Durante la visita reiteró el respaldo del Ejecutivo a las fuerzas policiales y anunció que esta semana se dará urgencia a dos proyectos de ley.

Arrau se reunió con Rodrigo Ruiz y Salomón Alcayaga en el Hospital de Carabineros. Ruiz fue atropellado mientras participaba en la detención de un imputado por violencia intrafamiliar. Alcayaga resultó gravemente herido en un accidente de tránsito.

El ministro comunicó el encuentro a través de su cuenta en X y expresó el respaldo del gobierno. “Detrás de cada uniforme hay una persona, una familia y una vocación de servicio que Chile debe cuidar”, sostuvo Arrau.

Además anunció que esta semana se pondrá urgencia a dos iniciativas legislativas. Una aumenta las penas por atentados contra Carabineros y la otra extiende la legítima defensa privilegiada a funcionarios en calidad de franco. La medida forma parte de la agenda anunciada el sábado por la administración del Presidente José Antonio Kast.
