General Motors anunció que ensamblará el Chevrolet Aveo en su planta de Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, a partir de 2027. La medida forma parte del Plan México para reducir importaciones de Asia y aumentar la producción nacional. El modelo es uno de los más vendidos en el país.

Francisco Garza Rodríguez, presidente y director general de General Motors de México, confirmó el proyecto durante una conferencia en la planta de Coahuila. Indicó que el ensamblaje del Chevrolet Groove comenzará en 2027, seguido del Aveo, que es el favorito de la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum.

Según datos del Inegi, el Aveo vendió 61 mil 64 unidades en 2025, quedando solo por debajo del Nissan Versa. En los primeros cuatro meses de 2026, se vendieron 23 mil 726 unidades del Aveo.

Marcelo Ebrard, secretario de Economía, señaló que la producción local de 80 mil vehículos sustituirá importaciones asiáticas. El proyecto busca fortalecer la industria automotriz mexicana y generar empleos.
