El presidente Cyril Ramaphosa ha destituido a Sisisi Tolashe como ministra de Desarrollo Social. La decisión se produce tras meses de informes que detallaban irregularidades en su oficina. Sindisiwe Chikunga ha sido nombrada ministra en funciones de forma provisional.

El presidente Cyril Ramaphosa destituyó a Sisisi Tolashe de su cargo el jueves en virtud de la sección 91(2) de la Constitución. La oficina del presidente declaró que las informaciones aparecidas en los medios de comunicación motivaron la decisión.

Tolashe se había enfrentado a un escrutinio por dos vehículos SUV de lujo donados por funcionarios chinos. Estos vehículos estaban registrados a nombre de sus hijos adultos y no de la Liga de Mujeres del ANC, al contrario de lo que había declarado ante el Parlamento.

Otra acusación implicaba a una empleada del departamento contratada como asistente de alimentación. Según se ha informado, se le exigía trabajar en la residencia de Tolashe y transferir 7.000 rands cada mes a la hija de la ministra.
