Itinanggi ni Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro na may pamimili ng boto o suhulan na nakaimpluwensya sa boto ng miyembro ng House committee on justice sa mga reklamo ng impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte. Ayon sa kanya, walang ebidensya ng ganoong aktibidad. Mag-uumpisa ang preliminary investigation ng komite sa March 25.
Sa panayam sa 'The Newsmaker' ng Newswatch TV, nagsabi si House committee on justice chairperson Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro na 'totally deny the allegations that there is vote buying in relation to the impeachment process.' Tinanggi niya ang paratang ni Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco at idinagdag na 'I never encountered any attempt from the leadership to influence the manner by which I am presiding in the justice committee.' Ayon kay Luistro, hindi trial court ang komite kundi magsasagawa lamang ng preliminary investigation sa March 25, kahit recess ang Kongreso. Limitado ang papel ng mga abogado sa pagtulong sa kliyente, hindi sa buong pakikilahok na magaganap lamang sa Senate. 'It should be the complainant (offering evidence). It should be the complainants assisted by their lawyers, the respondent assisted by her lawyer,' ani niya. Ang justice panel ay 'fiscals' o prosecutors na mag-e-examine ng ebidensya upang matukoy kung may probable cause para ituloy ang proseso. Samantala, si lawyer Dino de Leon, kinatawan ng isang complainant mula sa Tindig Pilipinas, humula na hindi dadalo si Vice President Sara Duterte sa mga hearing. 'VP Sara is duty-bound. This is a constitutional process, it is accountability,' sabi niya sa Saturday Media Forum sa Quezon City. Nanawagan siya ng paggalang sa institusyon at pinuna ang pagiging 'allergic' ng VP sa mga tanong.
