PNP humihigpit sa ilegal na pagtataas ng pamasahe ng PUV

MANILA, Philippines — Nagpahayag ng babala si Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. kahapon laban sa mga operator ng public utility vehicles na nagta-tataas ng pamasahe nang hindi awtorisado dahil sa pagtaas ng presyo ng petrolyo.

Sinabi ni Nartatez na ipinapakilos ng PNP ang mga yunit upang bantayan ang mga terminal at transportasyon hub, palakasin ang mga hotline, at mabilis na tumugon sa mga reklamo sa social media ng ahensya. “Our mandate extends to looking after the welfare of the riding public. We will ensure that rules and regulations are strictly followed as part of the PNP’s commitment to protect the commuters during these challenging times,” aniya sa isang pahayag.

Ipinatigil na ni Pangulong Marcos ang mga pagtaas ng pamasahe na naaprubahan ng LTFRB dahil sa pagtaas ng presyo ng gasolina. Hinikayat ni Nartatez ang publiko na mag-ulat ng mga ilegal na pagtataas ng pamasahe. “Let us work together to put an end to this illegal practice by ensuring that those who deliberately ignore and violate the provisions of the franchise conditions are held accountable,” dagdag niya.

Samantala, naghihintay ang Department of Transportation ng special allotment release order para sa P1 bilyong service contracting program na makakatulong sa mga driver ng PUV. Ayon kay DOTr chief Giovanni Lopez, maaaring hindi sapat ang pondong ito para sa lahat ng ruta.
