L'IPUSA appelle au calme face aux tensions entre le SAPS et l'IDAC

Le syndicat indépendant de la police d'Afrique du Sud (IPUSA) a appelé au calme alors que les tensions s'intensifient entre le Service de police sud-africain (SAPS) et la Direction d'enquête contre la corruption (IDAC).

Le syndicat a averti que cet affrontement public mine l'État de droit et érode la confiance du public. Il a lié ce conflit aux arrestations et mandats très médiatisés impliquant des hauts responsables de la police.

Le secrétaire général Mpho Kwinika a déclaré que les différends devaient être réglés par les voies appropriées. Il a souligné que cet affrontement affecte directement les agents sur le terrain.

Kwinika a rappelé les tensions de 2009 entre les Scorpions et le SAPS, qui avaient conduit à la dissolution des Scorpions. Il a insisté sur le fait que le conflit actuel ne doit pas entraîner la fermeture de l'IDAC, compte tenu de la nature sophistiquée de la criminalité dans le pays.
