Un législateur présente un projet de loi visant à interdire les chatbots IA dans les jouets pour enfants

Un membre du Congrès de l'Utah a proposé la première législation fédérale visant à restreindre l'intelligence artificielle dans les jouets destinés aux jeunes enfants. La mesure interdirait la fabrication et la vente de tels produits aux États-Unis. Elle survient dans un contexte de préoccupations croissantes concernant la sécurité, la protection de la vie privée et les impacts sur le développement.

Le 20 avril, le membre du Congrès Blake Moore a présenté l'AI Children’s Toy Safety Act. Le projet de loi demande l'interdiction des jouets pour enfants intégrant des chatbots basés sur l'IA, citant des risques allant de contenus inappropriés à l'exposition de données. Cette initiative fait suite à des efforts au niveau des États, comme en Californie et dans le Maryland, pour imposer des moratoires ou exiger des contrôles de sécurité avant le lancement.
