Appel à manifester contre le projet Perfect Day à Mahahual

Des groupes environnementaux ont appelé à une manifestation pacifique devant le ministère de l'Environnement à Mexico pour défendre Mahahual face au projet Perfect Day de Royal Caribbean. La manifestation est prévue ce jeudi 21 mai à 9 heures.

L'appel a été lancé par le groupe Sélvame. Les participants prévoient de se rassembler au 223 Ejército Nacional, dans la colonia Anáhuac, afin d'exhorter les autorités à suspendre la construction du parc à thème.

La présidente Claudia Sheinbaum a confirmé que le Semarnat enquête sur le projet. Elle a précisé avoir demandé à la secrétaire Alicia Bárcena d'examiner les plans en détail afin de prévenir tout dommage à l'écosystème.

Sheinbaum a déclaré que son gouvernement donne la priorité à la protection de l'environnement sur les intérêts économiques privés. Greenpeace a également exprimé son opposition par le biais d'une campagne de signatures et d'une banderole déployée au Palacio de Bellas Artes.
