Protest gegen Perfect Day-Projekt in Mahahual angekündigt

Umweltschutzgruppen haben zu einer friedlichen Demonstration vor dem Umweltministerium in Mexiko-Stadt aufgerufen, um Mahahual vor dem Perfect Day-Projekt von Royal Caribbean zu schützen. Die Protestaktion ist für Donnerstag, den 21. Mai, um 9 Uhr angesetzt.

Der Aufruf ging von der Gruppe Sélvame aus. Die Teilnehmer planen, sich in der Ejército Nacional 223, colonia Anáhuac, zu versammeln, um die Behörden dazu zu drängen, den Bau des Themenparks zu stoppen.

Präsidentin Claudia Sheinbaum bestätigte, dass das Umweltministerium Semarnat das Projekt untersucht. Sie gab an, Ministerin Alicia Bárcena gebeten zu haben, die Pläne im Detail zu prüfen, um Schäden am Ökosystem zu verhindern.

Sheinbaum erklärte, dass ihre Regierung den Umweltschutz über private wirtschaftliche Interessen stelle. Auch Greenpeace hat seinen Widerstand durch eine Unterschriftenkampagne und ein Banner am Palacio de Bellas Artes zum Ausdruck gebracht.
