The financial platform Nequi reported disruptions in several services on Friday, December 15, coinciding with payday and Black Friday. Transfers to Bancolombia and between Nequi users were mainly affected. Some services like PSE payments and the Nequi card were operating normally by 2:30 p.m.
Nequi, the digital banking app with 27 million users in Colombia, faced significant outages this Friday, December 15, 2025. The first half of December has been marked by these issues, particularly on payday, when hundreds of users reported problems on social media.
The most affected services include transfers to Bancolombia, transfers between Nequi accounts, transfers from Bancolombia to Nequi, withdrawals at ATMs and Nequi and Bancolombia agents, recharges at Bancolombia agents, and QR payments between accounts. These disruptions occurred throughout the Black Friday morning, leading to widespread complaints.
In response, Nequi stated on social media: "Amig@, we are experiencing outages with some of our services, while we invite you to use the Card or recharge at Agents and more services you can see on our official status website".
By 2:30 p.m., the services operating normally were PSE recharges and at Nequi agents, PSE payments, and the Nequi card.
The context of these failures relates to the high demand expected for year-end. Nequi anticipated up to 80 million daily transactions, which prompted a technology migration to improve stability during congestion peaks. However, this infrastructure change has contributed to the current outages, despite enhancements in capacity to handle user demand.
