Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from Wimbledon due to wrist injury

Two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz announced on Tuesday that he will miss this year's grass-court Grand Slam because of a lingering right wrist injury.

Alcaraz injured his right wrist at the Barcelona Open last month. He had already withdrawn from the French Open, which begins this weekend.

"My recovery is going well and I'm feeling much better," Alcaraz posted on social media, "but unfortunately, I'm still not ready to compete."

The 22-year-old won the Australian Open earlier this year, becoming the youngest man to claim all four major titles. He captured back-to-back Wimbledon titles in 2023 and 2024.

"They are two truly special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot," he said of Wimbledon and the Queen's Club event. "We'll keep working to come back as soon as possible!"
