Leclerc overhauls steering wheel software for first time at Ferrari

Charles Leclerc has made his first major change to the steering wheel software since joining Ferrari in 2019. The update was introduced with the new 2026 regulations and played a role in his British Grand Prix victory last weekend. The revised layout includes new indicators for the MGU-K and turbo status.

The Monegasque driver abandoned the block-style layout he had used since his debut season. Data such as speed, RPM, and brake balance now appear in small boxes on the left side of the screen. The center area displays tyre and brake temperatures along with the current gear and engine mode.

A vertical sidebar on the right shows MGU-K operation, extending upward during energy deployment and turning red in harvest mode. Five red dots track available boost duration, while a percentage scale with red, white, and green colors indicates when the turbo reaches optimal RPM for race starts.

Ferrari allowed drivers flexibility in these settings, unlike some other teams that retained similar layouts from 2025. The changes align with the technical demands of the current regulations, including restricted electric deployment below 50 km/h.
