아파치 업그레이드를 위해서는 8개의 AN/APG-78 화력 통제 레이더와 기타 장비가 포함됐다. 국무부는 "이번 판매는 한국 해군의 다목적 헬리콥터 능력을 강화하고 적대 세력을 억제할 수 있는 신뢰할 수 있는 전력을 제공할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
이번 요청은 북한이 핵과 미사일 위협을 강화하는 가운데 이루어졌다. 판매는 의회의 승인이 필요하다.
