Auditora-geral revela que servidores aposentados continuam recebendo salários em condados

A auditora-geral Nancy Gathungu revelou que centenas de servidores aposentados de governos locais em oito condados continuam recebendo salários ilegalmente.

A auditoria referente ao ano fiscal encerrado em 30 de junho de 2025 constatou que os funcionários atingiram a idade de aposentadoria compulsória de 60 anos, mas permaneceram na folha de pagamento.

Os condados afetados são Bomet, Garissa, Isiolo, Samburu, Nyeri, Migori, Nyamira e Embu. Em Bomet, 27 funcionários receberam 3 milhões de xelins. Em Isiolo, 33 funcionários e quatro consultores receberam 3,7 milhões de xelins em junho de 2025.

O relatório observou que os condados não apresentaram evidências legais ou motivos válidos para a manutenção dos funcionários, levantando questões sobre fraude na folha de pagamento e corrupção.
