Die Rechnungsprüferin Nancy Gathungu hat enthüllt, dass Hunderte pensionierte Mitarbeiter der Bezirksverwaltungen in acht Bezirken weiterhin unrechtmäßig Gehälter beziehen.

Die Prüfung des am 30. Juni 2025 endenden Geschäftsjahres ergab, dass die Mitarbeiter das vorgeschriebene Rentenalter von 60 Jahren erreicht hatten, aber dennoch auf den Gehaltslisten verblieben. Die betroffenen Bezirke sind Bomet, Garissa, Isiolo, Samburu, Nyeri, Migori, Nyamira und Embu. In Bomet erhielten 27 Mitarbeiter 3 Millionen Shilling. In Isiolo bezogen 33 Mitarbeiter und vier Berater im Juni 2025 insgesamt 3,7 Millionen Shilling. Dem Bericht zufolge konnten die Bezirke keine rechtlichen Nachweise oder triftigen Gründe für die Weiterbeschäftigung des Personals vorlegen, was den Verdacht auf Lohnbetrug und Korruption aufwirft.
