Flugsvamp founder deported to Sweden

Alexander Gustafsson, founder of the darknet site Flugsvamp 2.0, has been deported from Turkey to Sweden. He landed at Arlanda airport on Friday to serve an 11-year and eight-month prison sentence.

Gustafsson was sentenced in 2022 by the appeals court for particularly serious drug offenses after running the site from his home in Lund. He fled abroad just before the ruling and was arrested in Turkey in July 2024.

Police said he was deported and landed shortly before 4 p.m. at Arlanda. Irene Sokolow at the police national media center confirmed the event and thanked Turkish police for their cooperation.

Authorities have also secured cryptocurrency worth 127.6 million kronor from Gustafsson's criminal profits. The amount, mostly bitcoin, has been sold by the Enforcement Authority and now goes to the state treasury. Senior prosecutor Annika Wennerström noted that cryptocurrency is not anonymous since it requires traditional currency for everyday expenses.
