Uma empresa de energia sediada em Nevada planeja parar de fornecer eletricidade a cerca de 49.000 residentes perto de Lake Tahoe até maio de 2027. A decisão deixa o provedor local da Califórnia em busca de um substituto em meio à crescente demanda de data centers.

A Liberty Utilities, que atende o lado californiano de Lake Tahoe, obtém atualmente 75 por cento de sua energia da NV Energy. A concessionária de Nevada informou à Liberty que encerrará o contrato até maio de 2027 para liberar capacidade para novos projetos de data centers no norte de Nevada.
