Huduma Kenya to introduce pension services at centres

Huduma Kenya has announced plans to offer pension and retirement services at selected centres nationwide. The initiative, launched with the Retirement Benefits Authority, follows staff training announced on June 29. Currently only pension application status checks are available at the centres.

Kenyans will soon access retirement and pension services closer to home, following new training for Huduma Centre staff, Huduma Kenya stated in a statement. The programme, launched today by the Huduma Kenya Secretariat and the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA), equips frontline officers to guide citizens on retirement planning and benefits at selected centres nationwide, it added.

According to the agency, Huduma Kenya staff are currently undergoing specialised training to equip them to assist citizens seeking information on retirement benefits. The training is designed to prepare frontline officers to handle basic advisory queries and direct clients appropriately within the retirement benefits system, as announced by the agency.

Currently, Kenyans can only check the status of their pension application at any Huduma Centre nationwide, but cannot access any other services. To get other services, such as applying for or receiving pensions and other retirement benefits, they are required to visit RBA offices or the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) offices in Nairobi.

The move forms part of a decentralisation of government services through Huduma Centres, aiming to expand the network to all 290 constituencies. Once fully implemented, the initiative is expected to enhance service delivery efficiency while promoting better retirement financial planning among Kenyans.
