Mbadi aamriwa kufafanua uhamishaji wa taasisi za nishati

Kamati ya nishati imesimamisha kikao cha bajeti na kumwagiza Waziri wa Fedha John Mbadi kueleza uhamishaji wa KenGen, Kenya Power, Ketraco na GDC kwenda Hazina ya Miundomsingi ya Kitaifa.

Wabunge wa Kamati ya Nishati, inayoongozwa na David Gikaria, walisema uhamishaji huo ulifanywa bila idhini na umepunguza bajeti ya Wizara ya Nishati kutoka Sh78.3 bilioni hadi Sh31.52 bilioni.

Katibu wa Nishati Alex Wachira alisema hatua hiyo inahatarisha miradi inayofadhiliwa na wahisani na akaomba bajeti irejeshwe. Wabunge walionya kuwa hatua hiyo inakiuka sheria na inaweza kusababisha kupunguzwa kwa wafanyakazi.

Uhamishaji huo ulitajwa katika Nakala ya Sera ya Bajeti iliyoidhinishwa Machi 2026. Kamati ilisitisha kikao hadi Mbadi na maafisa wengine wafike kutoa maelezo zaidi.
