Nvidia has released the full version of its DLSS 4.5 image-upscaling technology to users with GeForce RTX GPUs. Announced at CES last week, the update promises sharper visuals and better performance in games and apps. A beta was made available shortly after the announcement.
Nvidia introduced DLSS 4.5 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) just a week ago, marking the latest advancement in its Deep Learning Super Sampling lineup. The company followed up quickly by releasing a beta version last week, and as of January 14, 2026, the full release is now accessible through the Nvidia app for anyone with a GeForce RTX GPU. This rollout broadens access to the technology across Nvidia's RTX hardware lineup, without requiring newer models for the core features. DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, the full name of the primary component, focuses on enhancing image quality. It delivers sharper visuals and improved temporal stability compared to previous iterations. At the heart of these improvements is the second-generation Super Resolution Transformer, which Nvidia describes as reducing ghosting and enhancing anti-aliasing. The company states this works across more than 400 games and applications. Nvidia emphasized the technical leap in a statement: 'This second-generation model is our most sophisticated yet, utilizing five times the compute power of the original transformer model, having been trained on a significantly expanded, high-fidelity dataset.' This training process underscores the model's ability to handle complex rendering tasks more effectively. Looking ahead, Nvidia plans to integrate an upgraded frame generation feature into DLSS 4.5 later this spring, but it will be limited to owners of GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Dubbed Dynamic 6x Frame Generation, it can produce up to five additional frames for every one generated traditionally, potentially enabling 4K resolution at 240Hz with path tracing enabled. These enhancements aim to push the boundaries of real-time graphics performance, benefiting gamers and developers alike.
