Tesla Robotaxi service testing has been spotted in Dallas, Texas, using Model Y vehicles with rear camera washers. These vehicles, which match those in Austin, bear Texas plates, and one was seen simulating a pickup and dropoff. Tesla previously named Dallas among seven metro areas for robotaxi coverage in the first half of 2026.

Tesla has begun testing its Robotaxi service in Phoenix, Arizona, using a Model Y vehicle equipped with rear camera washers and a California manufacturer license plate. The company had previously announced Phoenix as one of seven planned metro areas for robotaxi coverage in the first half of 2026.

NVIDIA and Bolt have announced a partnership to develop robotaxis in Europe, leveraging NVIDIA's AI technologies and Bolt's fleet data. The collaboration was revealed at GTC 2026. No timeline for deployment has been set.

Victor Nechita, Tesla's vehicle program manager for the Cybercab, has left the company after nearly nine years, just days after the first production unit rolled off the line at Gigafactory Texas. Nechita, who joined as a Model 3 intern in 2017, led the Cybercab from concept to initial production. His departure adds to a series of senior executive exits at Tesla amid preparations for volume production in April.

A Jefferies analysis found Tesla's robotaxis in Austin cheaper than Uber but with longer wait times and suboptimal routes. The firm noted most rides still require safety monitors. Meanwhile, Tesla has made no progress toward driverless approvals in California.

Tesla has reported five additional collisions involving its Austin-based robotaxi fleet in December 2025 and January 2026, bringing the total to 14 incidents since the service launched in June 2025. The fleet, mainly Model Y vehicles with engaged autonomous systems, shows a crash rate higher than human-driven benchmarks. Despite this, Tesla started limited driverless rides in late January 2026.

Tesla has begun production of its Cybercab robotaxi at its Austin factory, with the first two-seater vehicle rolling off the line. The company also secured a key waiver from the US Federal Communications Commission for inductive charging technology. These developments raise questions about the vehicle's features, target market, and liability.
