Ferrari plans to introduce an upgraded Formula 1 engine and a new Shell fuel as early as the Austrian Grand Prix, subject to FIA approval.
The team will ship the third version of its 067/6 power unit to Spielberg. This version includes modifications permitted under ADUO rules and features a steel-alloy cylinder head that allows higher combustion chamber temperatures.
A new fuel developed by Shell specifically for this engine configuration will be used. Intake air temperatures will rise from over 100C to over 115C starting at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Ferrari hopes the changes will reduce its horsepower deficit to Mercedes. The updates follow strong results in Barcelona, where the team ended Mercedes' early-season dominance.
Red Bull is also expected to bring a major upgrade package to its home race.
