Kabinett von Karnataka billigt Rohith Bill

Die Regierung des Bundesstaates Karnataka hat die Rohith Bill in einer Kabinettssitzung am Donnerstag gebilligt. Die „Campaign for Rohith Act“ begrüßte diesen Schritt. Die Kampagne merkte an, dass der verabschiedete Gesetzentwurf den Großteil des ursprünglichen Entwurfs der Bürger beibehält.

Dieser Entwurf wurde in Zusammenarbeit durch zwei Diskussionsrunden am 16. Dezember 2025 und im Januar 2026 weiterentwickelt.Die Kampagne drängte zudem auf Verbesserungen bei der Zugänglichkeit und bei fristgerechten Berufungsverfahren an Bezirksgerichten.

The Karnataka cabinet on Friday approved a revised system of sub-quotas for Scheduled Castes within the 15% overall reservation, allocating 5.25% each to right-hand and left-hand Dalit groups and 4.5% to other SC categories. The decision came at a special cabinet meeting and will enable recruitment for thousands of stalled government posts. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called it a historic move.

A day after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath for his second term, the Assam cabinet approved a draft Uniform Civil Code bill. The bill will be tabled in the state assembly on May 26 and excludes tribal communities.
