Der African National Congress in Limpopo hat zwei Bürgermeister von ihren Ämtern entbunden. Miyelani Chauke ersetzt Fredah Nkondo als geschäftsführende Bürgermeisterin der Vhembe District Municipality. Chauke wurde während einer Sondersitzung des Rates in Thohoyandou in ihr Amt eingeführt. In Tzaneen soll Odas Ngobeni Gerson Molapisane ersetzen. Diese Entscheidung wurde Anfang der Woche bei einer Sitzung des Provinzvorstands getroffen. Parteisprecher Ernest Rachoene erklärte, die neuen Bürgermeister müssten die Erbringung von Dienstleistungen beschleunigen. Er betonte die Notwendigkeit der Wasserversorgung und anderer wesentlicher Dienstleistungen für die Einwohner.
