MKP benennt Abgeordnete für Impeachment-Ausschuss

Die uMkhonto weSizwe Party hat drei Mitglieder benannt, die dem 31-köpfigen südafrikanischen Impeachment-Ausschuss angehören sollen, welcher die Beweise gegen Präsident Cyril Ramaphosa prüft.

Die uMkhonto weSizwe Party gab am Dienstag bekannt, dass ihre Vertreter in dem Ausschuss Dr. John Hlophe, der erste stellvertretende Parteivorsitzende und Fraktionsvorsitzende, die Whip Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi sowie Dr. Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala sein werden.

Politische Parteien müssen der Parlamentssprecherin Thoko Didiza bis Freitag die Namen für den Ausschuss vorlegen, der infolge eines Urteils des Verfassungsgerichts eingesetzt wurde.

Das Gremium wird prima-facie-Beweise bezüglich der Fremdwährungen prüfen, die von Ramaphosas Farm Phala Phala entwendet wurden.

South Africa's National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has begun the process of forming a 31-member impeachment committee to examine allegations against President Cyril Ramaphosa over foreign currency found at his Phala Phala farm. The move follows a Constitutional Court ruling last Friday that declared a parliamentary rule unconstitutional and required the committee's establishment. Political parties must submit names for the committee by 22 May 2026.

Parliament announced the 31 MPs who will serve on the Impeachment Committee probing President Cyril Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala matter. The panel was established following a Constitutional Court order earlier in May.
