Der SC Freiburg hat im Halbfinalrückspiel der Europa League Sporting Braga mit 3:1 besiegt und steht damit erstmals in der Vereinsgeschichte in einem europäischen Endspiel.

Im Endspiel am 20. Mai in Istanbul trifft Freiburg auf Aston Villa. Trainer Julian Schuster sprach nach dem Spiel von großer Freude und betonte, dass noch Schritte zu gehen seien. Matthias Ginter und Lukas Kübler hoben die Bedeutung des Finales für den Verein hervor.
