China entrega el primer buque metanero de 180.000 m³ construido íntegramente en el país

China entregó este domingo su primer buque de transporte de gas natural licuado (GNL) de 180.000 metros cúbicos diseñado a nivel nacional en un astillero de Nantong, en la provincia de Jiangsu. Según informes de prensa, el buque, bautizado como Celsius Georgetown, ya ha partido con destino a Singapur.

El Celsius Georgetown fue construido por la base de Haimen de China Merchants Industry. Tiene 298,8 metros de eslora y 48 metros de manga, y está equipado con un sistema de propulsión de baja velocidad y combustible dual. El buque está diseñado para transportar GNL a temperaturas de hasta 163 grados bajo cero y es el metanero de mayor capacidad de carga construido hasta la fecha en China.

La entrega representa un avance importante en el sector de la construcción naval de alta gama para energías limpias en China. Los buques metaneros son considerados, junto con los portaaviones y los cruceros de lujo, una de las "joyas de la corona" de la industria naval debido a sus complejos requisitos de diseño y construcción.

Con esta entrega en el dique de China Merchants Heavy Industry en Nantong, China cuenta ahora con cinco astilleros capaces de construir y entregar buques metaneros, situando las capacidades generales del país entre los líderes a nivel mundial.
