Santiago Metro achieved the tunnel meeting at Cal y Canto station for Line 7 on Wednesday, a milestone in the 26-kilometer mega project. The station, at 60% progress, will be the first quadruple interchange with lines L2, L3, L7, and future L9, linking Renca to Vitacura in 37 minutes.

Cal y Canto station stands at 60% progress, with excavations of shafts, galleries, and tunnels finished, main shaft pending; completion is projected for the first quarter of 2027, covering station tunnel, access galleries, rough platform works, and mezzanine structure. It will have about 7,000 m² of built surface and an excavation depth of 35 meters, with entry at the intersection of Ismael Valdés Vergara and Puente streets in Santiago. It includes elevators at all levels and accessibility features like tactile paving. The station has five levels: surface-access (0), ticketing (-1), Puente (-2) for L2 interchange, Andén PK (-3) with L3, and Andén (-4) for L7 trains. Attendees included Transport Minister Louis de Grange; Public Works Minister Martín Arrau; Metro president Guillermo Muñoz; general manager Felipe Bravo; RM presidential delegate Germán Codina; and metropolitan governor Claudio Orrego.
