Vyn named Skåne's top restaurant for third consecutive year

The Skånska gastronomipriset awards gala took place on Saturday evening at Malmö Town Hall, where Daniel Berlins Vyn was named the top Skåne restaurant for the third year running. Several Malmö-based entities also received honors, including the beverage company Fruktstereo and cheese expert Peter Mårtensson. The prizes celebrate the diversity and quality of Skåne's culinary scene.

The annual Skånska gastronomipriset gala was held on Saturday evening at Malmö Town Hall, with falafel king Sadoo Iskandarani serving as the on-stage host. The most prestigious category, Skåne's restaurant of the year, went to Vyn in Brantevik for the third consecutive year, owned by Daniel Berlin. Berlin and former owner Mats Vollmer have now collectively won the award five times: Vollmer with Vollmers in 2014, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022, while Berlin secured it with Daniel Berlin Krog in 2016 and 2019, and Vyn from 2023 to 2025.

"This fine award gives us energy and passion to continue our pursuit of making every new day even better than the last," Daniel Berlin stated in a press release. The jury, chaired by Thomas Kuuttanen and comprising chefs Marie Skogström and Titti Qvarnström, publisher Tove Oskarsson Henckel, and pastry chef Jan Hedh, justified the win with "Acrobatic culinary art of world-class caliber".

Other winners included Furuhem in Båstad as the new Skåne restaurant of the year, run by chefs Magnus Nilsson – previously at two-Michelin-starred Fäviken – and Frida Nilsson, known from MJ’s and Kitchen & Table in Malmö. Gastro Gaspari in Flyinge received the award for best restaurant experience, with head chef Mikael Feuk having reached the finals of Årets kock earlier this year.

Malmö had strong showings: Fruktstereo was honored for the Skåne beverage award with the motivation "With knowledge and taste for life's finest goodies, we are offered hand-picked and heart-tapped taste experiences of the highest class". Grower John Taylor received the Sällskapet Malmö Akvavit scholarship for his work with caraway and cultivation techniques. Malmö Food Council was recognized for diversity efforts, and Peter Mårtensson, recently retired from Möllans Ost, got the honorary award with the words "Few have refined Swedish food culture as much". Additional honors went to Ängavallen in Vellinge for sustainability and Byn Crêperie in Vollsjö as destination award.
