보건복지부는 24일 2025년 201개국에서 온 국제 환자 201만명이 한국을 찾았다고 발표했다. 이는 2009년 통계 집계 시작 이후 매년 증가하다가 2020년 코로나19 팬데믹으로 11만명까지 급감한 후 5년 만에 200만명을 돌파한 것이다. K-팝과 한국 드라마의 글로벌 인기, 한국 피부과 치료 수요 증가가 주요 요인으로 꼽혔다.
환자 국적별로는 중국인이 30.8%로 가장 많았고, 일본인 29.8%, 대만인 9.2%, 미국인 8.6% 순이었다. 특히 미국 환자는 전년 대비 70.4% 급증해 사상 최대 17만3000명을 기록했다.
치료 분야로는 피부과가 62% 이상을 차지했으며, 성형외과는 11.2%였다. 지역별로는 서울에 87.2%가 집중됐다.
