A three-judge panel at the Federal High Court ruled in favour of 132 parents from Sandford International School, striking down an amendment by the Ministry of Education on July 19, 2026.
The court found that the amendment to the directive on General Education Sector Schools Licensing and Renewal was issued without required procedure. It also exceeded the Ministry's authority and contradicted superior laws.
The ruling came after a year-long legal challenge by the parents. They argued the change was intended to legitimise a disputed tuition adjustment at the school.
Judges at the Federal High Court delivered the decision on the same day the article was published. The Ministry of Education operates under Birhanu Nega.
