Wazalendo wakenya kulipa hadi Ksh500,000 kwa muziki wa kampeni chini ya ushuru mpya

Serikali ya Kenya imepandisha ushuru wa royalty ya muziki kwa kampeni za kisiasa mbele ya uchaguzi wa 2027. Waziri Mkuu Salim Mvurya alitia saini notisi inayosasisha Ushuru wa Consolidated Music and Audiovisual Works. Wagombea wa urais watalipa Ksh500,000, juu kutoka Ksh400,000 awali.

Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports imesasisha ushuru huu ili kuongeza mapato ya wanamuziki.

Kulingana na notisi, vyama vya siasa vitakulipa Ksh600,000 kwa mwaka kwa matumizi ya muziki katika hafla za uzinduzi, kampeni na mikutano. Wagombea wa urais Ksh500,000, magavana Ksh200,000, maseneta Ksh150,000, wabunge na wawakilishi wanawake Ksh100,000, na wabunge wa kaunti (MCAs) Ksh15,000. Ushuru huu utatumika kutoka Januari 2026 hadi Desemba 2028.

Kabla, wagombea wa urais walilipa Ksh400,000, magavana Ksh150,000, na maseneta Ksh100,000. Ushuru huu mpya unatarajiwa kuongeza mapato ya wasanii wa ndani.

Wanamuziki wameshangilia hatua hii kutokana na changamoto za kiuchumi na shinikizo la mashabiki wanaowahutubia na uhusiano wa kisiasa. Wazalendo wamepata vitisho vya kisheria kwa kutumia muziki bila ruhusa.
