Mswada wa fedha wa 2026 unapendekeza kodi mpya za mitumba na simu

Serikali ya Kenya imependekeza hatua mpya za kodi kwenye nguo za mitumba na simu za mkononi kama sehemu ya Mswada wa Fedha 2026. Waziri wa Fedha John Mbadi aliwasilisha mswada bungeni mwishoni mwa Aprili.

Mswada huo unaongeza sehemu mpya kwenye Sheria ya Kodi ya Mapato baada ya kifungu 12G. Hii inahusu ushuru wa mapato kutokana na uagizaji wa nguo zilizovaliwa na bidhaa zingine zilizovaliwa. Faida inayotozwa ushuru inachukuliwa kuwa asilimia tano ya thamani ya forodha ya bidhaa zilizoagizwa kutoka nje.

Mitumba tayari inavutia VAT ya asilimia 16 wakati wa kuingia nchini. Sasa wafanyabiashara watalipa ushuru wa mapato wa asilimia 30 kwenye faida hiyo iliyochukuliwa kuwa asilimia tano. Hii inabadilisha michakato mingi iliyokuwa inatumika hapo awali.

Kwa simu za mkononi na vifaa vya mawasiliano visivyo na waya, mswada unapendekeza ushuru wa bidhaa wa asilimia 25. Ushuru huu utatozwa na Mamlaka ya Mapato ya Kenya wakati simu inapoamilishwa badala ya wakati wa kuingizwa au kununuliwa.
