كشفت تفاصيل جديدة من تقارير الحوادث الفيدرالية عن أن مشغلين عن بُعد كانوا يتحكمون في سيارات أجرة تسلا ذاتية القيادة خلال حادثتين على الأقل في أوستن بولاية تكساس. وقعت الحوادث بعد أن بدأت الشركة في تقديم خدمات الركوب في يونيو 2025.

تغطي بيانات الإدارة الوطنية للسلامة المرورية على الطرق السريعة 17 حادثة تتعلق بسيارات أجرة تسلا ذاتية القيادة بين يوليو 2025 ومارس 2026. في إحدى وقائع يوليو 2025، تولى مشغل عن بُعد السيطرة بعد أن طلب مراقب السلامة المساعدة، حيث قام بتسريع المركبة والاصطدام بسياج معدني. وفي حادث ثانٍ في يناير 2026، اصطدم سائق عن بُعد بحاجز بناء بسرعة بلغت حوالي 9 أميال في الساعة. كانت كلتا المركبتين تقلان مراقب سلامة ولكن لم يكن بهما ركاب في ذلك الوقت.
