Butch Harmon unterstützt die Neun-Schläger-Idee von Olazabal

Der legendäre Trainer Butch Harmon hat den Vorschlag des zweimaligen Masters-Siegers Jose Maria Olazabal unterstützt, die Anzahl der Schläger bei Turnieren auf neun zu begrenzen.

Harmon äußerte sich zu der Idee in der neuesten Folge des Podcasts The Smylie Show, moderiert von Smylie Kaufman. Er erklärte, Olazabal habe vorgeschlagen, das Schlägerlimit von 14 auf neun zu reduzieren, um Spieler dazu zu zwingen, eine größere Vielfalt an Schlägen auszuführen, anstatt sich nur auf die Distanz zu verlassen. Die Kommentare folgen auf die Ankündigung von vier Golfverbänden, ein einheitliches Datum für den 1. Januar 2030 für eine mögliche Anpassung des Golfballs festzulegen. Harmon merkte an, dass die Hersteller massiv in die aktuelle Ausrüstung investiert hätten und die Reduzierung der Schläger eine einfachere Alternative darstellen könnte.
