Elisa Pascual, 12-year-old Aragonese writer, publishes first book adapted for dyslexia

Elisa Pascual, 12, from La Puebla de Alfindén, has presented her first book 'Aurora y los niños intrépidos', adapted with special typography for dyslexic readers and soon to be translated into braille.

Elisa began writing the story at age eight and completed it after nearly a year of work. The book follows three young protagonists on adventures around the world and conveys messages about friendship, bravery and overcoming challenges. It features the opendyslexic typeface, with wide spacing and heavier backgrounds, to aid reading.

The girl lives with dyslexia and dysorthography. She states that this condition represents “a different way of seeing the world”. Her mother recalls that reading her early texts was complicated due to letter confusions and syllable order issues. Professionals confirmed it was not a lack of attention.

The presentation occurred at CEIP Ferrer y Racaj during the school's Cultural Days. Publisher Zafiro releases the book and the ONCE Foundation will collaborate on the braille version. Elisa is already working on a sequel and another different story.
