Socialdemokraterna plans to invite cross-party talks on the tax system if the party wins the election. Mikael Damberg, the party's economic policy spokesperson, outlines the proposal in a debate article in Dagens Nyheter.
Socialdemokraterna wants to take a comprehensive approach to the tax system to increase efficiency, equality and secure welfare funding. "We did it together in the 90s, we can do it again", writes Mikael Damberg in the debate article.
Damberg stresses that a broad agreement would be a strength for Sweden. "We believe it is time to once again take the tax system seriously", he continues.
The party sees it as necessary for politics to take responsibility for the system's future function. The invitation to talks will be issued in the event of an election victory.
