Steam lehnt Visual Novel wegen inhaltlicher Bedenken ab

Steam hat die kommende japanische Horror-Visual-Novel "This Game Is Not Real" von seiner Plattform abgelehnt. Der Entwickler Viv gab die Änderung bekannt, nachdem das Spiel die Distributionskriterien von Valve nicht erfüllt hatte. Der Titel hatte seit dem Start seiner Shop-Seite im August 2025 24.000 Wunschlisten-Einträge gesammelt.

Das Indie-Team hinter dem Spiel, bekannt als Viv, erklärte am 13. Mai, dass es die Veröffentlichungspläne auf DLsite und BOOTH verlagern werde. Entwickler Bibu merkte an, dass die Entscheidung auf Steams Feststellung beruhte, dass das Projekt die Plattformstandards nicht erfülle. Das Spiel war ursprünglich für diesen Monat auf Steam geplant.

Google has removed the psychological horror visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club from the Google Play Store, stating that its content violates the platform's Terms of Service due to depictions of sensitive themes. The game, which launched on iOS and Android in December 2025, remains available for free on Apple devices. Developer San Salvato and publisher Serenity Forge said they are working to reinstate it.
