Mercedes s'est retiré des négociations visant à acquérir une participation minoritaire dans l'écurie de Formule 1 Alpine après un désaccord sur le prix demandé par le vendeur.

Mercedes, qui fournit déjà des unités de puissance et des boîtes de vitesses à Alpine, avait convenu en principe avec Renault, le propriétaire majoritaire, d'acheter la participation de 24 pour cent détenue par Otro Capital. L'accord a désormais échoué car le prix de 720 millions de dollars demandé par Otro Capital valorise l'écurie à 3 milliards de dollars, un montant supérieur à ce que Mercedes considère comme un investissement raisonnable.
