TransMilenio's depressed passage at Calle 100 with Suba reaches 66% completion

Bogotá's Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU) reported that the TransMilenio depressed passage at the intersection of Calle 100 and Avenida Suba has reached 66% completion. This underground structure aims to enhance mobility in the capital, with ongoing work on concrete screens and key structural elements. The project includes public spaces and green areas for the benefit of residents.

The TransMilenio depressed passage at Calle 100 and Avenida Suba, part of the Avenida 68 trunk line, has made significant progress under Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán's administration. According to the IDU, the project advanced from 46% completion upon the current management's arrival to the current 66%, focusing on building reinforced concrete screens to support overhead traffic during excavation, which reaches up to 8 meters deep.

IDU Director Orlando Molano inspected the site and stated: “This depressed passage was at 46% when we arrived and now has 66% progress. We are working on constructing the screens to achieve the necessary resistance and work on top.” These efforts are complemented by installing crown and tension beams to stabilize the ground and prevent soil shifts.

The project spans 1.06 kilometers of exclusive TransMilenio roadway, operating bidirectionally north-east and unidirectionally north-south. It will also deliver 25,484 square meters of public space, over 4,000 square meters of green areas, and a 1.15-kilometer bike lane segment.

In Corridor Group 8, from Carrera 65 to 48, progress rose from an initial 36.68% to 56.11% as of January 25, 2026. Over 200 workers operate in shifts, overseen by monitoring to ensure safety and mobility. The IDU expects the system to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027, with the depressed infrastructure completed by mid-year.
