23일 원화가 달러당 1,466.8원까지 강세를 보이며 두 달여 만에 최고치를 기록했다. 2분기 국내총생산(GDP)이 전 분기 대비 0.6% 성장하며 시장 예상을 웃돌았기 때문이다.
한국은행에 따르면 4~6월 실질 GDP는 전 분기 대비 0.6% 증가했다. 이는 5월 중앙은행 전망치 0.2%를 크게 상회하는 수치다.
이날 코스피 지수는 299.19포인트(4.4%) 오른 7,096.89로 마감했다. 외국인 투자자들이 반도체 주식을 2조1천억 원 순매수하며 지수를 끌어올렸다.
원·달러 환율은 오후 3시30분 기준 달러당 1,466.8원으로 전 거래일 대비 13.3원 하락했다. 원·엔 환율은 100엔당 900원 아래로 떨어져 20개월 만에 처음이다.
삼성전자는 3.65%, SK하이닉스는 4.85% 각각 상승했다. Alphabet의 클라우드 매출이 전년 대비 82% 증가한 점이 반도체 수요 기대를 키웠다.
