The Jakarta Provincial Government began demolishing abandoned monorail pillars on Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta on January 14, 2026. The inauguration was led by Governor Pramono Anung and attended by former Governor Sutiyoso. The demolition cost is only Rp254 million, while Rp100 billion covers overall revitalization.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the demolition of abandoned monorail pillars along Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta. Deputy Governor Rano Karno was present, along with Jakarta Prosecutor's Office Head Patris Yusrian Jaya and former Governor Sutiyoso. The demolition began at 09:14 WIB in front of Setiabudi LRT Station, with the first three pillars cut by Dinas Bina Marga staff using welding. The process will continue gradually at night to minimize disruptions.
Pramono explained that the budget for pillar demolition alone is Rp254 million, refuting claims of Rp100 billion solely for that. "Jadi yang pertama anggaran untuk membongkar aja Rp254 juta," said Pramono at Mall Grand Indonesia on January 13, 2026. The Rp100 billion is allocated for one-year area revitalization, including pedestrian arrangements, roads, and parks. "Yang Rp100 miliar itu adalah anggaran untuk mengatur pedestrian, jalan, taman selama satu tahun penuh," he added.
A total of 98 monorail pillars will be demolished along the 3.5-kilometer east side of Jalan Rasuna Said. After removal, the fast and slow lanes will merge into one busway lane and three regular lanes, similar to the already tidied west side. Dinas Bina Marga Head Heru Suwondo stated the initial focus is on the east side. "Sisi timurnya masih terkendala adanya tiang monorel. Makanya akan kita rapikan jalannya," said Heru.
The demolition was taken over by the Jakarta Provincial Government after PT Adhi Karya, the original builder, failed to respond to a November letter and missed the one-month deadline. "Adhi Karya sudah kami surati dan batas waktunya sudah lewat, kami akan melakukan sendiri," Pramono asserted.
For traffic, Polda Metro Jaya is prepared for situational engineering, especially at night in the slow lane. Traffic Director Komarudin emphasized personnel readiness to ensure smoothness. "Situasional aja. Rencana pembongkaran malam hari dan di jalur lambat," he said.
