Estromatólitos em cratera coreana ligam impactos de asteroides ao oxigênio primitivo

Pesquisadores na Coreia do Sul encontraram estromatólitos dentro da cratera de impacto de Hapcheon, sugerindo que colisões de asteroides criaram condições que sustentaram a vida primitiva produtora de oxigênio.

Uma equipe do Instituto Coreano de Geociências e Recursos Minerais identificou as estruturas em camadas na parte noroeste da cratera. Cada uma media de 10 a 20 centímetros de diâmetro. O local é a única cratera de impacto de asteroide confirmada na Península Coreana.
