Some Xbox Series owners continue to face problems launching backward-compatible Xbox 360 games months after an announced fix. The error prevents access despite working internet connections for other titles. Reports of the issue date back to November 2025.
Players report an error message stating “Can’t connect to Xbox Live. Select Test Connection to troubleshoot your connection” when attempting to start certain Xbox 360 titles on Xbox Series consoles.
Xbox Head of Next-Gen Jason Ronald stated in late April that the problem should be resolved. Some users confirmed their games became playable afterward.
Other players have continued reporting the same or similar errors in May and June. Examples include messages about being unable to download profile pictures or remaining stuck on “Getting your Xbox 360 info.”
Customer support has informed affected users that the issue is known but provided no timeline for a resolution. Kotaku has contacted Xbox for further comment.
