EVE Online-Studio benennt sich in Fenris Creations um

Der isländische Entwickler und Publisher hinter dem langjährigen Weltraum-MMO EVE Online hat seinen Namen von Crowd Control Protections in Fenris Creations geändert. Der Schritt folgt auf jahrelange Verwechslungen mit der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas und fällt mit dem Rückkauf des Unternehmens vom bisherigen Eigentümer Pearl Abyss zusammen.

Geschäftsführer Hilmar Veigar Pétursson erklärte, das Rebranding reagiere auf zunehmende Markenkonflikte. Er merkte an, dass Reporter das Studio als das „andere CCP“ bezeichneten und Mitarbeiter an US-Grenzen aufgrund des Namens mit Fragen konfrontiert wurden. Das Unternehmen entschied sich dazu, die Abkürzung nicht gegenüber der politischen Organisation anzufechten.

Google DeepMind has acquired a minority stake in Fenris Creations, the developer of the long-running space simulation Eve Online, to train its AI models on player behavior in the game's complex universe.

CCP Games has split from Pearl Abyss to operate independently as Fenris Creations. The rebrand coincides with a $120 million research partnership with Google DeepMind to advance AI using the Eve Online universe.
