Lavín Infante sprach nach dem Treffen kurz mit der Presse. Er sagte, sein Sohn sei trotz der Umstände ruhig und zuversichtlich. Der Sohn befindet sich seit letztem Freitag wegen des Vorwurfs des Betrugs zulasten der Staatskasse, der Vorteilsgewährung und der Fälschung in Untersuchungshaft.

Der ehemalige Bürgermeister bedankte sich bei der Familie für die unterstützenden Nachrichten. Er merkte an, dass sie Fernsehen und Zeitungen meiden, um Ruhe zu bewahren. Der Besuch erfolgte einen Tag, nachdem das Gericht von Santiago ein Habeas-Corpus-Gesuch gegen die Untersuchungshaft für zulässig erklärt hatte.

Bei einem früheren Besuch am Montag drückte Lavín Infante den Schmerz der Familie aus und bekräftigte seinen Glauben an die Unschuld seines Sohnes und von Cathy Barriga.
