Tribunal aclara fallo y permite a Collahuasi avanzar parcialmente en proyecto de US$3.200 millones

El Segundo Tribunal Ambiental aclaró este jueves su fallo del 14 de mayo que anuló parcialmente la Resolución de Calificación Ambiental del proyecto de la Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi.

La aclaración establece que la anulación se limita a la planta desaladora y aspectos del medio humano relacionados con las comunidades indígenas reclamantes. El resto de la RCA mantiene su vigencia, lo que permite a la empresa retomar obras en sectores como Ductos, Cordillera y partes no cuestionadas del Puerto Collahuasi.

Collahuasi informó que la construcción y pruebas de la planta desaladora permanecen detenidas desde la sentencia, con solo acciones mínimas de mantención y seguridad en curso. La compañía expresó su disposición a cumplir rápidamente con lo resuelto para obtener la autorización completa del proyecto C20+.

El proyecto, aprobado originalmente en diciembre de 2021, busca extender la vida útil de la mina por 20 años con una inversión cercana a los US$3.200 millones. Anglo American y Glencore, que controlan la minera, reafirmaron que la evaluación ambiental se ajustó a la normativa vigente.
