Pinirmahan ng CHED, TESDA, DOLE ang IRR ng Labor Education Act

Pinirmahan ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), at Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng Republic Act 11551, na nagtuturo ng labor education sa tertiary curriculum, nitong April 29, 2026. Target ng rollout ang first semester ng Academic Year 2026-2027 para sa freshmen students sa pamamagitan ng National Service Training Program (NSTP). Layunin nito na ihanda ang mga estudyante sa mundo ng trabaho.

Sa Manila, pinirmahan nina CHED chairperson Shirley Agrupis, TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez, at DOLE officer-in-charge Benedicto Ernesto Bitonio Jr. ang IRR ng RA 11551, halos limang taon matapos ang paglagda sa batas noong Mayo 2021.

Ayon kay Agrupis, isasama ang labor education bilang special lecture sa NSTP para sa mga freshmen sa first semester ng AY 2026-2027, sa gitna ng 13,000 academic programs. Nagko-coordinate sila sa TESDA at DOLE para sa higher years, habang magte-train ng trainers para sa mahigit 2,000 higher education institutions (HEIs) at 5.4 milyong estudyante.

Batay sa batas, kinabibilangan ng labor education ang karapatan ng manggagawa, negotiation skills, workplace relations, at grievance mechanisms.
