李在明大統領は金曜日、親の責任を国家が分かち合い、老後の幸福を支える国をつくると誓った。同氏はフェイスブックへの投稿およびソウルで開かれた「父母の日」の記念式典において、この公約を表明した。

李氏は「父母の日」に際し、フェイスブックにメッセージを投稿した。2人の子供の父親として、親は子供たちの「世界」を背負っていると学んだと綴った。

「親の肩にかかる人生の重荷を減らせば減らすほど、大韓民国は真の先進国へと一歩前進できる」と述べ、国と地域社会が共同で育児の責任を担えるよう、実質的な支援を拡大していく方針を示した。

李氏は、地域社会によるケアサービス、高齢者向け115万人の雇用創出、年金制度の改正といった計画を挙げた。その後、ソウルにある大韓商工会議所本部で開催された「父母の日」記念式典に出席。殉職した消防士や警察官の親にカーネーションを贈り、彼らの犠牲を「重い心」で記憶に留めると語った。
