구윤철 재정경제부 장관은 8일 외환 및 금융 시장의 변동성이 지속되는 가운데 국민 생계 안정을 위한 노력을 다하겠다고 밝혔다.
구 장관은 이날 서울정부청사에서 열린 경제부처 회의에서 이같이 말했다. 그는 5월 경상수지가 386억1000만 달러로 사상 최대를 기록한 점을 언급하면서도 “긍정적인 거시경제 지표에도 불구하고 외환·금융시장 변동성이 이어지고 있다”고 지적했다.
중동 전쟁의 영향으로 물가 상승 압력과 고용 둔화가 이어지며 국민 생계에 부담이 가중되고 있다고 구 장관은 설명했다. 정부는 반도체, 물리 인공지능(AI), AI 데이터센터를 중심으로 한 3대 메가프로젝트를 성공적으로 추진할 계획이다.
별도의 시장 상황 점검 회의에서는 신현성 한국은행 총재 등과 함께 외국인 자본 유출이 시장 변동성을 키우는 요인으로 지목됐다. 참석자들은 바이오·방산·우주 산업 등 차세대 성장 동력을 육성해 반도체·AI 의존도를 낮춰야 한다는 데 의견을 모았다.
